Website redesign · Northern Luzon

Lions 301-C: a warm, senior-friendly district website.

We rebuilt the website of Lions Clubs International District 301-C, 77 clubs across Northern Luzon, around District Governor Ralph Eduardo A. Yambao's theme for Lion Year 2026-2027: Mahal. Alaga. Halaga. Mahalaga. It runs on a hand-built WordPress theme with a club map, an event calendar with QR codes and a members-only bulletin board, in type every Lion can read on a phone.

The brief

The job, in three parts.

01

The challenge

  • A new Lion Year with a new theme to carry: Mahalaga
  • 77 clubs in five regions that members could not see in one place
  • Readers who are mostly older and mostly on phones
02

What we did

  • Built a hand-made WordPress theme with no page builder, every word editable
  • Added a club map, an event calendar with QR codes and a password-protected bulletin board
  • Kept every text at 14px or larger and every tap target at 44px or more
03

The outcome

  • Every club, officer and event of the year in one place
  • Members add an event to their phone calendar by scanning a code
  • A site the district edits itself, looked after on our care plan

Lions District 301-C homepage with the Mahalaga theme
01

Built around the Governor's theme

The homepage opens on Mahal. Alaga. Halaga. Mahalaga!, the theme District Governor Ralph Eduardo A. Yambao set for the year, over a photo of the district's own service. His message, the eight causes, the news and the next events follow, each one a step from the first screen.

02

An interactive club map

A map of Northern Luzon pins each of the five regions with its number of clubs. Pick a region and the full A to Z roll below narrows to its clubs, with search, each club's zone and who leads it this year.

District events calendar with search and filters
03

An event calendar that follows the circulars

Every district event of the Lion Year is on one calendar, with dates taken from the official circulars. Lions search it, filter by type and place, and switch between what is coming up and what the district has already served.

04

Scan to add to your calendar

Each event page carries a QR code that adds the event straight to an iPhone or Android calendar, an Add to calendar button and a share link with a one-tap Copy button.

Members-only District Bulletin Board password page
05

A members-only bulletin board

Every circular the Cabinet Secretariat issues this year sits on one board, behind a district password that club presidents and secretaries hold. No more searching chat threads for a memo.

District 301-C Governor's team officer cards with portraits
06

Officers, face by face

All 63 officers are grouped from the Governor's team to Leo leadership, each with a portrait, a role and a home club, so any Lion can see who to call.

Also built

  • Ways we serve page with the eight global causes
  • District weeks of service
  • News from the district
  • Photo gallery from the district's own Facebook page
  • Donate button in the header
  • Header that fits a 320px phone
On phones

Built for the phone in your hand.

Most of the district's readers are older and on phones, so text never drops below 14px, every button is at least 44px tall and dense grids turn into easy lists.
