The challenge
- A packed season of plays, musicals, concerts, cabaret and children’s shows
- Ticket buyers need dates, prices and a buy button in one place
- A school, auditions and volunteers each need their own front door
Sunset Playhouse is a not-for-profit community theater in Elm Grove, near Milwaukee, that has put on shows since 1960. We redesigned the site in Adobe XD, rebuilt it in Elementor and wrote a custom plugin that connects every show to the theater’s ticketing system.

Each show gets its own page with the poster, run dates, series, ticket prices, running time and a performance calendar. The Buy Tickets button opens that exact show in the theater’s online box office.

The season page lists every production and event with its poster and dates, upcoming first and past shows below, so regulars can plan their year in one visit.

Musical MainStage concerts, SideNotes cabaret, the studio series, children’s theater and special events each have their own page, with a poster wall of that series’ shows.

The homepage opens with a slider of current and coming shows, then upcoming shows with Buy Tickets and Read More, the newsletter, auditions, volunteering and the latest news.

The school section has its own look, with a photo header, weekly classes, junior productions, camps and an online registration button for parents.

The history page tells how a church theater group built Wisconsin’s first theater made entirely by a community group, with archive photos and a link to the full production history.
On a phone the menu folds into one round button under the logo, and show posters fill the screen so the dates are easy to read.
