Slow WordPress site?
WordPress speed optimization, done properly.
Senior-led WordPress speed optimization. We fix the foundation — caching, render path, images, database, and plugin bloat — then prove it with green Core Web Vitals and faster real-user loads.

Every extra second of load time pushes bounce rate up and conversions down, and Google ranks on real-user Core Web Vitals. Speed is not a vanity metric, it is revenue and rankings.
Higher bounce rate
Visitors abandon a page that does not paint quickly. The slower the first view, the fewer people stay long enough to convert.
Lower search rankings
Core Web Vitals are a confirmed ranking signal. A failing LCP, CLS, or INP holds back pages that deserve to rank.
Wasted ad spend
Paid traffic landing on a slow page burns budget. Quality Score drops and cost-per-acquisition climbs.
What actually makes a WordPress site slow?
Before you can fix WordPress speed you have to know what is dragging it down. In fifteen years of optimisation work, the cause is almost always one of these six, usually several at once.
Slow hosting and a high TTFB
On cheap shared hosting every visit waits for PHP to build the page from scratch. If Time to First Byte is above 600ms, no front-end tuning will save you. Page caching or a better host fixes this first.
Render-blocking CSS and JavaScript
The browser cannot paint until it has downloaded and parsed every blocking stylesheet and script in the head. Unused CSS, jQuery chains, and third-party tags push out Largest Contentful Paint and hurt Interaction to Next Paint.
Unoptimised images
Full-resolution JPEGs and PNGs are the single largest byte cost on most WordPress pages. Serving WebP or AVIF at the right size, with width and height set, removes most of the weight and the layout shift.
Plugin and page-builder bloat
Every plugin can load its own CSS and JS on every page, whether that page uses it or not. Heavy page builders compound this. Auditing and trimming what loads where is often the biggest single win.
A bloated database
Years of post revisions, expired transients, and autoloaded options make every query slower. A site that was fast at launch crawls after two years for this reason alone. Cleaning it is low-risk and high-impact.
No caching or CDN
Without full-page caching, WordPress regenerates identical HTML for every visitor. Without a CDN, every asset travels from one origin server. Both are solved configuration, not code rewrites.
WordPress performance: the full stack, not just a caching plugin.
Caching plugins alone never get a real site green. Our WordPress speed optimization works end to end across four layers.
Hosting, caching & CDN
Page caching, object caching, server-level rules, GZIP/Brotli, and a properly configured CDN so assets ship from the edge.
Render path & assets
Eliminate render-blocking CSS/JS, defer and minify, remove unused code, preload critical assets, and tame third-party scripts so LCP and INP both pass.
Images & fonts
Modern formats (WebP/AVIF), correct sizing, lazy-loading, dimension attributes to kill CLS, and self-hosted, subset fonts.
Database & plugins
Clean autoloaded options, trim revisions and transients, audit slow queries, and replace heavy plugins with lean alternatives.
Four steps. Measured at every one.
No guesswork. We benchmark before we touch anything, and prove the gain after.
Audit & benchmark
Lab and field data captured: Lighthouse, PageSpeed Insights, and real CrUX vitals as the baseline.
Prioritised plan
A ranked fix list by impact and effort, with a fixed quote. You approve before work starts.
Optimise on staging
Every change made and tested on a staging copy first, so live traffic is never the test.
Verify & report
A before/after report with the numbers, then a 30-day window to confirm field vitals improve.
One fixed price. Everything below.
A complete one-time optimization sprint. No retainer required, though most clients add a care plan to keep it fast.
- Full lab + field performance audit with baseline report
- Page, object & browser caching configured properly
- CDN setup and asset delivery from the edge
- CSS/JS minified, deferred, unused code removed
- Images converted to WebP/AVIF and right-sized
- Fonts self-hosted and subset, CLS eliminated
- Database cleaned, autoload trimmed, slow queries flagged
- Before/after report + a Loom walkthrough of every change
